Aided by triple digit heat and a stationary front draped across the metroplex, thunderstorms quickly developed in the early evening hours. Due to the high temperatures the cloud bases were several high, thus allowing for the easy development of microbursts. Several thunderstorms ended up producing severe microbursts with areas of damage reported across North Texas. Texas was observing a thunderstorm in Cedar Hill, TX when a strong microburst impacted him as he sat filming in his car. Accompanied by small hail, a rarity in such hot temperatures, the microburst caused some minor damage in the area with small limbs down and a small tree uprooted.

More significant damage was reported in Denton and Young counties.
