April 30, 2013 Jeff Piotrowski and Kathryn Piotrowski intercepted beautiful outflow dominated storms in the Texas rolling plains from Matador, TX down to Sweetwater, TX. A pushed out ahead of the line of storms extending from Floydada, TX to south of Lubbock, TX, pushing a wall of dust across the plains. Dust devils were everywhere. We met up with , near Jayton, TX …he was on the storms south of Lubbock as they initiated. Dust was EVERYWHERE..and visibility became poor but never to the point of blackout as with a Derecho. I (Kathryn) have been in a Derecho and let me tell you…day turns into night and your vehicle gets sandblasted. That day gave me a glimpse into the . No tornadoes today but mother nature gave us some photogenic storms.
