Sandy was coming ashore right about now exact 2 years ago the evening of October 29, 2012. As of 9 pm EDT, Sandy was 50 miles NW of Atlantic City, NJ with 80 mph sustained winds and a 947 mb minimum pressure, and hurricane advisories ceased being issued just as it was making landfall as an extra-tropical cyclone.

A 13.7' storm surge was recorded at Battery, NY, with 13.3' at Kings Point, NY and Sandy Hook, NY, causing a large part of $60 billion in damage as the 2nd costliest natural disaster in U.S. history. Sadly 285 people lost their lives to Superstorm Sandy.
